We'll start off on the west side of Washington, where some nurses have taken their work demands to the picket lines.
Negotiations are underway between the Washington State Nurses Association, or WSNA, and Tacomas St. Joseph Medical Center, and they've been going on since August.
We talked to Yunna Flenord, a charge nurse in the cardiovascular intensive care unit, just coming off of a night shift at the hospital.
“I'm, like, exhausted right now.
I was literally break nurse, CNA, charge nurse, resource, everything last night.
I'm running from, like, three different floors, making sure everybody has everything.
No one's getting up breaks.
Everybody's frustrated and I'm frustrated.” Nurses are calling for more staff, saying staffing shortages have been a problem since the pandemic.
They're also calling for increased safety measures.
NWPB will continue to cover the negotiations.
Two more bargaining sessions have been set for later this month.
Election day has come and gone, but elections are a whole season these days.
Many of you mentioned election anxiety in a recent survey, so NWPB host Connor Henricksen talked with a mental health counselor about how to deal with those feelings.
Here's a snippet of that conversation.
“Is it okay to take some time before talking to people that you really sharply disagreed with?” “Yeah.
I mean, like I said, you may be at capacity and it's okay to be at capacity and it's okay to know your limits.
Stepping away from relationships, whether temporarily or permanently, could be a better option for you than staying in something that's generally unhealthy.

Now to a special NWPB production.
Here is a sneak peek of Billy's Magic.
“I really believe we have a chance to tell the real history now, and I hope that, you know, everybody kind of wants to learn about who Billy Frank Jr was.” “Let's really start to make progress on the things and the policies that he was trying to affect for the last 30 years by utilizing the treaty rights, by listening to the tribes, by accepting and implementing tribal solutions, because we are the stewards of the land.” Billy Frank Jr., a northwest tribal leader whose fierce fight for fishing rights will be honored with a statue in our nation's capitol.
We'll hear from his family and the artist in the process of creating that statue.
And the full mini documentary is up right now on YouTube.
You can also find it on NWPB.org in this article, along with pictures and a timeline of Billy Frank Jr.s life.
