There's a lot more people here than I thought would be here.
I've been an Antiques Roadshow fan for years.
I've watched Antiques Roadshow show on Alaska Public Media, which has been just wonderful.
And it's one of those great shows that I feel like has something for everybody.
So when we heard they were coming to Alaska that Anchorage was going to get the Antiques Roadshow experience, that was very exciting.
Coming to Alaska for Antiques Roadshow is a real achievement.
You guys are far away.
Let's face it, we're in Boston.
Antiques Roadshow is a show where you get to see people learn about objects that they own.
They're going to come to an event and bring their two most precious things that they own, at least most precious to them.
Very often family things to be evaluated by our experts.
And now you know more.
It was so awesome to be at Antiques Roadshow, like seeing the people that I've seen on TV in real life and the energy of all the participants.
It was just probably something I've never experienced and may not ever get to experience again.
I got to bring my dad with me, which is really special.
I heard there were people coming down from Fairbanks, up from the peninsula.
It really was something that everybody could surround themselves with.
And at a time when things are divisive and it's hard to agree on something, everybody can agree that Antique You know, you're a real Alaskan.
You're excited that the right people here.
I am bringing this pair of vases and these are hand-painted as far as we can tell.
The story goes that these were handed down from great great grandmother to grandmother to mother to daughter.
They're hand-blown.
You can see the pencil mark there and they've got a nice decoration.
They are.
Victorian.
And they are probably by the Bristol Glass Company, So probably are around $150 to $250 fair market value.
For both of them together.
Okay, so we won't anger great great grandma too badly if she gets them to me.
My second item I am bringing this pocket watch that we purchased at the Saturday market from a watch guy.
We would just like to know if it's okay to bring it out in the world or if it is our inheritance or our daughter's inheritance that we're playing around with.
I brought a pocket watch.
This is my wedding gift to my husband.
We got a Waltham, American Waltham Watch Company from Waltham, Massachusetts.
And let's see what we got inside.
Oh, look at that.
Hear the patter in the watch guy's voice of I can picture myself as if I were standing on TV on an actual Antiques Roadshow episode.
Value on that watch.
In today's market, it's about 3 to $400.
Okay.
Yeah, it's a little bit more than what we paid for it, but not enough to where I have to worry about him dropping it at a wedding or something.
That's right.
Awesome.
You did just fine.
Excellent.
Nice watch.
Thank you so much.
All right, thank you.
Ive come from a family of collectors.
My dad does space toys, my mom does dolls.
I am a Disney adult.
As the term is coined, we call ourselves Dis-nerds.
At the time, being able to collect Disney memorabilia is something that brings me joy and it's something also that I can pass down to my kiddo or show her maybe something about know a little bit more about our family history.
I just find so much value in public media and seeing the work that went into Antiques Roadshow.
It's so much work behind the scenes for the end product that we all see, and I hope that we all value that.
I know I value that.
