Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipCorita Kent was an American artist, nun, designer, and educator.
She was also an activist in the 60s and 70s.
Sister Mary Corita was a Roman Catholic nun from the age of 18, until she renounced her vows in 1968.
Many of her prints were seen in the activist movements of the 60s and 70s.
For example, Make Love Not War shows up in her print here with the Yellow Submarine.
She was an important figure in the pop art movement and really championed peace and love through her art.
